"the U.S. is not an independent country"
Labels: Independence
We don't face a freedom/security dilemma. We face a trilemma. By assuming that our independent laws, policies, decisions and actions are “independent” in an irreversibly interdependent world, we force ourselves into a dilemma of trading freedoms for security, or our security for freedom. Only by accepting the fact that we are completely interdependent can we begin to make sane laws that can realistically maximize our freedoms and our security.
